Hypertensive disorders are tied to roughly 7% of US maternal deaths, and nearly three-quarters of those deaths happen in the postpartum period, often after hospital discharge and just as OB visits taper off. Because we are in your home during those early weeks, we check it, and we are proud to have caught dangerous postpartum hypertension in several families this past year, in time to get them care.
