A latch problem is rarely just “technique.” We look for the real reasons, from positioning to oral function to flow, and fix the one that is actually the issue.

What can get in the way

Latch trouble can come from positioning and hold, your baby’s oral function and tone, supply or flow that is too fast or too slow, prematurity or a rough start, or pain that is changing how you both feed.

Because the cause sits between two people, we assess you and your baby together and adjust in real time, rather than handing you a generic checklist.

How we help

  • A live feeding observation with hands-on positioning and latch adjustments
  • A structured look at your baby’s oral function, with a judicious approach to any procedure
  • Help matching flow and supply to your baby’s needs
  • A comfort plan if pain or damage is part of the picture
  • Follow-up so the changes actually stick
It’s all connected. A latch problem is a couplet problem. Your baby’s oral function and your flow and supply both shape how a latch feels. We adjust both sides in the same visit rather than coaching technique alone.

Questions parents ask us

Could a shallow latch be a tongue-tie?

Sometimes oral function plays a role. We assess it carefully and recommend a release only when it is truly warranted.

My baby latches but it still hurts. Can you help?

Yes. A latch that looks fine can still be uncomfortable. We find the reason and adjust it.

Do you help with bottle and pump feeding too?

Yes. We can help with paced bottle feeding, flange fit, and a plan that fits your goals.

Is the visit covered by insurance?

Often, yes. We’re in-network with most major commercial plans, AHCCCS, and TRICARE. Because we often see families quickly, sometimes the same day or the next morning, and we offer Saturday visits, we can’t always confirm benefits before your visit, and we never let that delay care. These are medical visits, so your plan may apply a copay, coinsurance, or deductible. We’ll help you understand your coverage, and final benefit details are ultimately between you and your plan.
